Sioux Falls, SD - The University of Sioux Falls volleyball team defeated Dakota State University (8-16 overall) in three sets (28-26, 25-14, 25-14). With the victory USF (16-18 overall, 4-10 Great Plains Athletic Conference) surpasses its win total from a season ago.

Junior Amber Sneller (Sioux Center, Iowa) led the Cougars with nine kills and also had three assists, two digs and five block assists. Fellow juniors Samantha Haffke (Bellevue, Neb.) had 19 assists and Rachel Heeney (South Sioux City, Neb.) totaled 17 digs. Heeney is fourth in the NAIA with 717 digs this season.

The Cougars currently are ninth in the standings, but can improve their placing with the remaining matches against GPAC opponents that have a combined 1-26 conference record. USF will play Dakota Wesleyan University (12-21 overall, 1-13 GPAC) for their last home match on Friday, October 30 at 7:30 pm at the Stewart Center. Then USF will head to Yankton, S.D. to play Mount Marty College (4-23 overall, 0-13 GPAC) at 3:00 pm in the season finale.
