Sioux Falls, SD - The University of Sioux Falls volleyball team (17-18 overall, 5-10 Great Plains Athletic Conference) defeated Dakota Wesleyan University in three sets (25-10, 25-16 and 25-18) at the Stewart Center in Sioux Falls tonight.

The Cougars never trailed in the first set, jumping out to a 7-2 lead. Following a DWU (13-22 overall, 2-13 GPAC) timeout, USF increased their advantage to 18-7. USF would easily take the set, 25-10.

Unlike the first set, the Cougars were not able to dominate the second set right away as the teams traded points. Leading 17-14, USF finished the set on an 8-2 burst to take the second set, 25-16.

USF trailed for the first time on the night in the third set, finding themselves down 0-2 after the first two serves. USF would then take the lead for good, scoring four of the next five points. Sophomore Kinzie Van Voorst (Hull, Iowa) then came up with two straight kills, adding to the Cougar advantage. USF continued to pull away as they went on a 9-4 run. USF took control the rest of the way as they earned a 25-18 set victory and a 3-0 match win.

Junior Amber Sneller (Sioux Center, Iowa) led the Cougars on the night with 21 assists, while fellow junior Samantha Haffke (Bellevue, Neb.) had 17. Junior Danielle Roers (Lakeville, Minn.) recorded 14 kills, while junior Rachel Heeney (South Sioux City, Neb.) added 12 digs.

Next up for USF is their regular season finale, a trip to Yankton, S.D., to face Mount Marty College (4-25 overall, 0-15 GPAC). The Cougars defeated the Lancers 3-1 on September 26 in Sioux Falls.
