Sioux Falls, SD - Sophomores Elizabeth Hildreth (Norwalk, Iowa) and Becky Christofferson (Summit, SD) both had 17 points in a 80-70 victory over York College (1-1) tonight in York, Neb. Sophomore Jamey Hofer (Hartford, SD) added 11 points and four rebounds of her own. It is the first victory for the Cougars (1-1) of the young 2009-2010 season.

USF and York College battled throughout the first half, with the Cougars holding a two point advantage (36-34) at the half-way break. Christofferson hit two three-pointers as part of her ten points in the first 20 minutes.

The Panthers held the score close throughout most of the second half, but USF was aided by making nearly 50% from the floor. With the score tied 65-65 late in the second half, the Cougars made their move and took over the game. USF rallied to pull away from the Panthers with a 15-5 run over the last five minutes.

USF, coming off a disappointing loss to Dakota State University, increased their shooting percentage from the floor tremendously in their second game by making 42% of their field goals, up 8% from Tuesday.

USF will have their home opener next Tuesday, November 10 at 6:00 pm against College of Saint Mary (0-3).
