Sioux Falls, SD - University of Sioux Falls senior Chad Aurich (Mayer, MN) and sophomore Sarah Gilbert (Papillion, Neb.) both scored points on the final day of the 2010 NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Championships held in Marion, Ind. The USF women finished in 19th place with 17.50 points. Aurich scored the only 1.50 points for the USF men.

Gilbert earned All-American honors in the high jump, tying for fifth with a mark of 5 feet, 5 inches. It is Gilbert’s fourth career All-American award.

Aurich tied for seventh place in the pole vault to score 1.50 points. His mark of 15 foot, 11 inches was the fifth best height of the meet, but number of attempts ultimately placed Aurich in the tie for seventh.

The 2010 Daktronics-NAIA Track and Field Scholars were announced today as well. Aurch, junior Alex Anderson (Sioux Falls, S.D.), senior Dustin Boyle (Garden City, Kan.), junior Ali Clevenger (Gibbon, Neb.), senior Trevor Holleman (New Holland, S.D.), senior Tim Kruse (George, Iowa) and junior Jimmy Thomas (Watertown, S.D.) were all recognized for maintaining at least a 3.5 grade point average. Athletes are nominated by their coaches and must be at least in junior academic standing.

The season is complete for the USF Track and Field team. Gilbert, sophomore Kayla Friesen (Alliance, Neb.), and freshman Brigitte Gross (Alexandria, S.D.) will bring All-American awards back to USF from the national championship meet.
