Erin Elder joins the USF Track and Field as throws coach.

“Coach Elder is not only going to be a tremendous asset to our throws program but to our track & field program over all” Brooks said. “He is very knowledgeable about the throws and is passionate about helping athletes reach their potential.”

Elder joins USF after nine years at Windom High School in Windom, Minn., where he was the head football coach and assistant track coach. While coaching throwers at Windom, he tutored the state discus champion the past two seasons and had 12 throwers qualify for the Minnesota State Meet the previous 8 seasons. Since 2007, Elder has coached one of his throwers to a top three placing in the girls discus at the Howard Wood Relays in Sioux Falls.

“He is gifted at working with people and has excellent leadership skills” Brooks added. “ We are fortunate to have him joining us next year.”

Elder coached at two schools during the 2009 season, also spending time at Fulda High School in Minnesota. While at the high school level, Elder also developed and implemented a strength and conditioning program for his student-athletes.

Elder joins a talented track and field staff at USF. Last season the USF women placed eighth at the NAIA Indoor Track and Field Championships while both the men and women cracked the top four at the GPAC Track and Field Championships.
