Sioux Falls, SD - The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) has approved advancement of the University of Sioux Falls into the second year of Division II candidacy. USF learned of their advancement during a conference call with the NCAA national office Monday morning.

“We are very excited for year two of the process” athletic director William Sanchez said about the approval. “It is going to be a busy but productive year with both the NSIC (Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference) and NCAA on campus.”

USF will receive an assessment during a NCAA campus visit in the Spring of 2011 and will submit an annual institutional report in June 2011. The assessment and report will determine if USF will advance into the third and final year of the process, which will serve as the University’s one provisional year.

“We made significant progress in our first year of this move” Sanchez noted. “But we still have a lot of growth that will happen during the upcoming academic year.”
