Sioux Falls, SD - The University of Sioux Falls is among 450 NAIA, NCAA and high school teams to receive the 2009-2010 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award. The occasion marks the second straight year the Cougars have earned their way onto the list, after the 2008-2009 squad earned the program’s first ever AVCA Team Academic Award.

To earn the award, teams must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.30. USF is among 34 NAIA institutions to receive the award, including six Great Plains Athletic Conference schools.

On the court last season, USF finished with a 19-19 overall record and advanced to the second round of the GPAC playoffs.

USF will start their season at the Niagara Falls Splash tournament in Buffalo, New York, with their first home competition on September 3 against Dakota State University.
