The University of Sioux Falls track and field head coach Gene Brooks and his staff has announced the addition of four women and three men to the 2012-13 rosters.
The class of 2012 consists of five field event specialist and two hurdlers, including one male and one female. All seven recruits are high school seniors that will join the track and field program this fall.
Coach Brooks and staff received national letters of intent Wednesday from student-athletes of Minnesota, South Dakota, California and Iowa.
"This is a special signing class as we make our debut into the NCAA and the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference next year, a move we have been preparing for and anticipating for several years," said Brooks.
USF will enter its first full season as a full fledge member of the NCAA DII and compete in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference with the start of the 2012-13 academic calendar.
The seven student-athletes join a program that has mentored 97 all-conference performances, 30 school records, 18 All-Americans and 3 Individual National Championships since 2007.
"These recruits are the first group of more to come, who will join an already well developed team, thanks to the hard work and dedication of our coaches and athletes."
We are very excited about our future and looking forward to many great things that are ahead of us," said Brooks.
USF track & field begins their 2012-13 season December 1st in Mankato, Minn. when they compete in the annual MSU-Mankato Preseason Open.
