The
University of Sioux Falls track & field teams combined for eight top three
finishes, including one first place finish Saturday afternoon in Sioux City,
Iowa at the 2012 Dordt Indoor Invitational.
Rachel Kruse covered 51 feet and .25 inches in the women's weight throw to claim the
top spot and break the current school record by more than two feet. She was the only Cougar to claim 1st place honors.
Both Callan and Katlin Sawtelle took second place in their events. Callan's toss
soared 41 feet and 10 inches in the women's shot put event, while Katlin
cleared a 10feet, 11 inch mark in the women's pole vault.
Ryan Maloney and Jordan Bents accounted two of the men's team second place finishes.
Maloney sprinted across the line in 7.87 in the 55m Hurdles and Bents' throw
sailed 50 feet and seven inches in the men's weight throw.
Laura Miller and Conner Anderson were the final two on the women's team to record a
top three finish. Miller completed the 400m dash in 1:02.17 to claim third in
the women's 400 and Anderson cleared 55m of hurdles in 8.77 for a third place
finish.
Greg Schwebach also respectively finished third in his event. His shot reached a 45
feet and 11 inch mark in the men's shot put.
Next
week, USF will travel to Seward, Neb. Saturday (Feb. 11) to compete in the
Concordia Indoor invite.
