The University of Sioux Falls women's golf team recorded 30 pars in today's opening round of the Upper Iowa Spring Invite to sit in ninth overall with a team score of 364. The Cougars currently have two scorers in the top 25 of an all NSIC individual leaderboard.

Behind individual leader Maggie Leland, who shot an impressive four-over par 76 Friday, No. 21 Augustana sits atop the team standings with a 320 through round one. However, Minnesota State and Winona State are within striking distance, as MSU is in second at 323 and WSU enters tomorrow with a 328 in 3rd.

Kali Gottsleben had a steady first day for the Cougars, tallying pars on 10 of her first 18 holes to card an 84 (41-43) to tie for 18th overall.

Tavia Rutherford is USF's second scorer in the top 25 individual leaderboard. She too displayed consistency, recording nine pars to fire an 86 (44-42) and enter Saturday tied in 24th place.

Kelsey Leif and Davee Johnson are knotted up at 45th overall, following rounds of 97, while Tia Nihart is in 45th after shooting a 99 (48-51) on the day.

The Upper Iowa Spring Invite continues tomorrow morning.
