Three Cougars Earn All-Region Honors at Central Region Meet

Billy Brockmueller, Shelbie Pettie and Sierra Harder finished in the top-25 at the NCAA DII Central Regional Meet in Joplin, Mo. Saturday to earn All-Region honors. Billy Brockmueller claimed ninth overall in the men's 10k to qualify for Nationals as an individual runner.

With three members in the top-30, USF's men charted an average time of 31:12.9 to take sixth out of 23 teams. They were just 36 points shy of qualifying for Nationals as a group.

Billy Brockmueller crossed the finish in 30:35.3, passing 13 competitors in the second half of his race to capture ninth. Matt Horan, Ethan Tabbert and Bobby Brockmueller completed the race as a pack. Horan (31:10.5) placed 30th, while Tabbert (31:13.7) and Bobby (31:20.7) finished 32nd and 36th, respectively.

Jared Noyes (31:44.3) represented USF's fifth leg. He too charted an impressive race, finishing 53rd overall.

Pettie and Harder led the women's squad to a 13th place finish as a team. Pettie's 21:57.9 was good for 19th, while Harder's 22:07.1 placed her 24th overall. Becca Steadman (22:38.2) was the third USF runner cross the line. She claimed 47th.

Tessa Stoltenberg (23:33.5) and Lindsey Mettler (25:45.1) competed in the Cougars' four and five spots. Stoltenberg placed 98th, while Mettler finished 163rd.

The Central Region Meet concluded USF's 2012 cross country season, but Billy Brockmueller will continue his sophomore campaign November 17 at the NCAA DII National Cross Country Championship in Joplin, Mo.
