USF Sits 9th at Upper Iowa Spring Invite
The University of Sioux Falls women's golf team recorded 30 pars in today's opening round of the Upper Iowa Spring Invite to sit in ninth overall with a team score of 364. The Cougars currently have two scorers in the top 25 of an all NSIC individual leaderboard.
Behind individual leader Maggie Leland, who shot an impressive four-over par 76 Friday, No. 21 Augustana sits atop the team standings with a 320 through round one. However, Minnesota State and Winona State are within striking distance, as MSU is in second at 323 and WSU enters tomorrow with a 328 in 3rd.
Kali Gottsleben had a steady first day for the Cougars, tallying pars on 10 of her first 18 holes to card an 84 (41-43) to tie for 18th overall.
Tavia Rutherford is USF's second scorer in the top 25 individual leaderboard. She too displayed consistency, recording nine pars to fire an 86 (44-42) and enter Saturday tied in 24th place.
Kelsey Leif and Davee Johnson are knotted up at 45th overall, following rounds of 97, while Tia Nihart is in 45th after shooting a 99 (48-51) on the day.
The Upper Iowa Spring Invite continues tomorrow morning.
