Mike Orr Named as Men's Soccer Assistant Coach
"I am thrilled to be able to add a coach of Mike's quality to our staff," Bennett said. "Not only is he a fantastic coach, but he also is intimately familiar with Sioux Falls and our program. I got to know Mike through his involvement with the Dakota Gold soccer club and took note of his impact on those teams and their success."
"I look forward to working alongside him as we look to push USF men's soccer to new heights as we begin play in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference this fall," he added.
A Sioux Falls native and product of Lincoln High School and the Dakota Gold soccer club, Mike Orr played collegiately for NCAA Division III powerhouse Gustavus Adolphus College. As a senior captain, Orr led the Gusties to an overall mark of 17-2-1 and the 2000 MIAC men's soccer championship. The Gusties finished the 2000 campaign ranked no. 10 in the final NCAA D-III standings and Orr was named an all-MIAC and all-region halfback.
Upon graduation from Gustavus, Orr was one of three non-NCAA Division I players named to the Twin Cities Phoenix (PDL) roster and later played for the Arizona Sahauros (USL D III Pro League). He received his USSF D coaching license in 2007 and has been coaching with his former team, the Dakota Gold Soccer Club. Orr holds a degree in geography from Gustavus Adolphus.
