Women's Golf Takes 11th at Concordia Invite

With an 122-over-par, 36-hole team total of 698 (343-355), the University of Sioux Falls women's golf team finished the Concordia University Invitational tied for 11th place on Monday. 

The Cougars carded a 67-over-par 355 in the closing round on the par-72, 5,934-yard Tartan Park Golf Course in Lake Elmo, Minn. USF finished tied with Concordia-St. Paul B and three strokes ahead of 13th place MSU-Moorhead. Sixteen teams in all competed in the event.

Sophomore Tavia Rutherford moved up 10 spots in the final round to finish the tournament in a tie for 26th place. Rutherford posted a second round of 82 to finish with a 22-over-par 166 (84-82).

Freshman Sara Swaney concluded the tournament in a tie for 36th place, recording a 26-over-par 170 (84-86). Following one stroke behind was sophomore Tia Nihart, who carded a second-round score of 90 to finish with a 27-over-par 171 (81-90) to finish in a tie for 38th place.

Junior Davee Johnson carded a 97 in the closing round to finish in a tie for 66th place with a 191 (94-97). Sophomore Kelsey Leif rounded out the Cougar golfers in 68th place with a 48-over-par 192 (94-98).

The 21st-ranked Augustana Vikings won the tournament with a 44-over-par 620 (305-315). Grand Valley State’s Kelly Hartigan won the individual title as she posted a 5-over-par 149 (76-73).

The Cougars will travel to St. Cloud this weekend to compete in the Husky Invite.
