Men's Golf Sits 5th at Husky Classic
The USF men's golf team is in fifth after shooting an 11-over 299 on Sunday in the first round of the Husky Classic at St. Cloud Country Club. The Cougars trail host St. Cloud State by 11 strokes.
The host Huskies carded an even-par 288. MSU is in second with a team score of 295 (+7) and is followed closely by Manitoba (296, +8), Bemidji State (297, +9) and USF (299, +11).
Senior Jordan Mueller is tied for second after leading the Cougars with a 2-under 70. The Yankton native is currently tied with Manitoba's Bryce Barr and MSU-Mankato's Bennett Black. The trio are one stroke behind SCSU's Devin Holmes.
Senior Levi Smith is tied for 11th after shooting a one-over 73. True freshmen and Sioux Falls Christian products Andrew Nelson and Jon Van't Hul both carded a six-over 78 and are currently in a tie for 47th with seven other competitors.
Freshman Nick Gottsleben carded a 10-over 82 to sit in a tie for 70th place. The Watertown native has posted two top-10 finishes in the Cougars' first two fall tournaments.
The second and final round is scheduled to begin tomorrow morning.
