Women's Golf Sits 8th at Jackrabbit Invite
The USF women’s golf team is in eighth place after the first two rounds of the South Dakota State University Fall Invitational, being held at Minnehaha Country Club in Sioux Falls. The Cougars posted a 36-hole score of 697 (349-348, +129) on Sunday.
North Dakota State leads the pack with a team score of 619 (309-310) and Creighton is 11 strokes back at 630.
The Cougars have been paced by the consistent play of sophomore Tavia Rutherford, who fired a 14-over 156 (79-77) and is currently in fifth place. Rutherford carded birdies at no. 8 and no. 15 in the second round. Sara Swaney is in a tie for 38th with a 174 (89-85, +32). Swaney showed some early jitters, as she was nine-over after the first seven holes but improved as the day worn on and ended the second round with a birdie on No. 18.
Tia Nihart birdied no. 16 in the first round and sits in 43rd place with a 182 (89-93, +40). Rounding out the top-five for USF were Audrey Kieliszewski (96-93=189, +47) and Davee Johnson (92-99=191, +49).
Bison Amy Anderson leads the tournament after two rounds with a one-under 141 (70-71).
The third and final round of the SDSU Invite will get underway with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. on Monday.
