Lady Cougars Take 8th at Jackrabbit Invite
The University of Sioux Falls women's golf team finished eighth out of eight teams at the Jackrabbit Fall Invitational hosted by South Dakota State University at Minnehaha Country Club in Sioux Falls.
The Cougars posted a three round score of 1,051 (349-348-354) against a field that included six NCAA Division I schools.
North Dakota State University won the 2012 Jackrabbit Fall Invitational with a 933, followed by runner-up Northern Iowa with a 951. Augustana College (953), Creighton (964) and South Dakota State (975) rounded out the top five. Nebraska-Omaha (981) and South Dakota (982) finished in front of USF (1,051).
Sophomore Tavia Rutherford began the day with a birdie and was again the Cougars’ top player, as she carded a team-low final round of 79 despite bogeying four of her last five holes. She took sixth place overall with a three-round score of 235 (+22). It is Rutherford’s second top-10 finish this fall.
Sara Swaney parred her first two holes and shot an 89 on Monday to take 41st place (89-85-89=263,+50). Tia Nihart posted a birdie on the par-3 no. 6 but struggled late in the round and shot a 94 today to finish in 44th place overall (89-93-94=276, +63).
Rounding out the top-five for USF were freshman Audrey Kieliszewski (96-93-92=281, +68) and junior Davee Johnson (92-99-98=289, +76).
NDSU Bison Amy Anderson ran away with the individual title, shooting a 216 (+3) to finish 10 strokes in front of Morgan Fitts of South Dakota State (226).
The Cougars are back in action next weekend when they travel to Brainerd, Minn., to participate in the NSIC Fall tournament.
