Cougars Sit 4th at NSIC Fall Championship
The University of Sioux Falls women's golf team shot a 365 (+77) in the first round of the NSIC Women’s Fall Championship at the Classic at Madden’s Course in Brainerd, Minn. The Cougars are currently in a fourth place tie with Minnesota State, Mankato.
Augustana College currently leads the field with a score of 326 (+38). Concordia St. Paul is in second with a score of 340 and Upper Iowa is in third with a score of 359.
Sophomore Tavia Rutherford and freshman Sara Swaney lead the Cougars after shooting identical rounds of 86 and sit in a tie for seventh with three other players and are 11 strokes off the lead.
Augustana’s Allie Ostrander is on top of the
leaderboard with a first round score of 75 (+3).
Tia Nihart posted a 92 (+20) in the first round for the Cougars, good enough for
a tie for 26th with Monica Wold of Bemidji State. Kelsey Leif finished the day
with a score of 101 (+29) and is in a tie for 43rd with Danielle Foster and
Becca Heinitz of Minot State.
Freshman Audrey Kieliszewski rounded out USF’s top-five with a score of 103 (+31). She is tied for 49th with Marissa Campeau of Southwest Minnesota State.
USF will continue play tomorrow with tee times starting at noon. The 2012-13
NSIC Women’s Golf Championship will consist of 72 holes, in which 36 will be
played on October 6-7 at Madden’s on Gull Lake. The final 36 holes will be
played April 20-21 at the Dacotah Ridge Golf Course in Morton, Minn.
