Brockmueller Represents Cougars at NCAA Championships
Sioux Falls' redshirt sophomore Billy Brockmueller made history as USF's first NCAA Championship participant Saturday when he competed in the NCAA DII Cross Country Championship in Joplin, Mo.
Running on behalf of the 32nd-ranked Cougars' as an individual, Brockmueller clocked a 31:30.4 to place 100th overall out of 245 competitors in the men's 10,000 meter race.
The top-40 runners were named All-American.
Brockmueller got off to a strong start with a 15:09 mark in the first half of the race, but a 16:21.4 second half pace set him back 10 spots on the final leaderboard.
Brockmueller caps an impressive 2012 campaign which included three top-10 finishes, an individual title, All-Conference and All-Regional recognition, and his first NCAA Championship appearance. He was also a national qualifier at the NAIA level in 2010 as a true freshman.
