Gran Selected NSIC Newcomer of the Year

Fresh off of third (women) and fourth place (men) finishes, respectively, at the NSIC indoor track and field championships the University of Sioux Falls has swept the league's newcomer of the year honors. 
USF freshman Jazzelena Black has been selected the NSIC Women’s Track Newcomer of the Year while fellow freshman Jagger Gran was chosen as the NSIC Men's Newcomer of the Year, as announced by the league office Tuesday morning.
A native of Oxnard, Calif., Black continued her outstanding freshman season at the NSIC Indoor track and field championships, where she was crowned both the women’s long jump and triple jump champion. Black will next compete at the 2013 NCAA Division II Festival, to be held March 6-9 in Birmingham, Ala. 
On the men's side, USF freshman Jagger Gran was honored as the NSIC Men's Track and Field Newcomer of the Year.

The Mound View HS (Shoreview, Minn.) product was crowned the 2013 Men’s Pole Vault Champion at the NSIC Indoor Championships with a clearance of 16-2.5 (4.94m). He too is headed to the NCAA Division II Festival and will enter the competition ranked no. 16 in the nation. Gran is one of three freshmen to qualify for the NCAA’s in men’s pole vault.
