Nine Cougars Qualify For NCAA Championships
The No. 8 Cougars accounted for four of the 18 spots listed for the women's pole vault event. 2012-13 NSIC pole vault champion Brigitte Gross (13' 5.25") and Kayla Coffee (12 11.5") earned the No. 4 and 5 seeds, while Kristin Majerus (12' 7.5") and Chelsey Schenavar (12' 6") enter the championships ranked No. 8 and 10, respectively.
USF will also be represented in the women's long jump, pentathlon and triple jump. With a second place finish in the conference championships, Katlyn Sawtelle (3501) received an invite for the women's penthalon. She was rated No. 11 of 16 invites. Jazzelena Black, who earned two conference titles last weekend, was selected to compete in both the long and triple jump. Her marks rank second (19' 7") and third (40' 7.5") in her respective events.
On the men's side, the Cougars are scheduled to compete in the men's 400m dash and pole vault. Colin Koth, who took second (48.15) at the NSIC Championships last weekend, enters the 400m rated No. 17 overall, while freshmen duo Jagger Gran (16' 2.5) and Scott Greenman (16 2.5"), who went 1-2 at the conference championships, head to Birmingham ranked No. 16 and 17, respectively.
