The University of Sioux Falls wrestling team finished competition today at the 2010 NAIA Wrestling National Championships held in Oklahoma City, Okla. USF took six wrestlers to the national tournament, a record number for the program that started in 2006.

The University of Sioux Falls wrestling team will compete at the NAIA National Wrestling Tournament on Thursday, March 4 through Saturday, March 6 at the Abe Lemons Arena in Oklahoma City, Okla.

In the 2010 NAIA North Regional wrestling qualifying event held at the Stewart Center the University of Sioux Falls ended up with a team score of 31.5, finishing in eighth place out of the ten teams that participated. The meet featured all Great Plains Athletic Conference and Dakota Athletic Conference wrestling squads.

The University of Sioux Falls Cougar wrestling team traveled to Sioux City, Iowa this past Saturday for the Briar Cliff Open. It was a long day of wrestling with the final matches of the day finishing up after 9pm. The Cougars Clint Whitley (Sr.; Sioux Falls, SD) was that last match of the day and he took home 3rd place in the 197lb weight class.

University of Sioux Falls wrestlers Koln Fink and Joe Skow have been named to the all-Great Plains Athletic Conference team, as announced by the conference office.

At the 2010 Great Plains Athletic Conference wrestling championships held at Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa, freshman Joe Skow (Jackson, MN) became only the second Cougar to win a GPAC weight class title since the program was instated in 2006. As a team, the Cougars showed improvement from last year, scoring 34 points to finish sixth out of eight teams.

In their regular season home finale the University of Sioux Falls wrestling team dropped a 26-24 heartbreaker to Great Plains Athletic Conference rival Dakota Wesleyan University Tuesday night at the Stewart Center.

The University of Sioux Falls wrestling match scheduled for tonight, Wednesday, January 20 has been canceled and rescheduled due to inclement weather.

The Cougar wrestlers made their way to Worthington, MN this past weekend for the Minnesota West Community and Technical College Open. There was competition from NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NAIA, and Junior Colleges. The Cougars finished the day with a 4th place finish from their 133lb freshman wrestler Joe Goolsby (Lewisville, TX).
